Cyathea gleichenioides comes from Papua New Guinea where it grows on very high open peaty grassland or forest margins at 2800-3700 m. The brown erect trunk is about 3 m tall and about 20 cm in diameter, the fronds are about 1 m long and form a rounded crown. Cyathea gleichenioides is a variable specie and similar to Cyathea imbricata and Cyathea macgregorii, -3C°.
