| Very rare in cultivation, a beautiful much wanted fern! Todea barbara is not really a treefern, but it does resemble Dicksonia antarctica. This fern forms a trunk up to 150 cm tall with multiple crowns with fronds up to 120 cm in length. The fronds look very different to D. Antarctica: the first thing you notice is the large size and the dark green glossy foliage. It originates from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. It is quite adaptable, cold hardy to about 15°F, -9°C and will tolerate a considerable range of climates, but of course, it needs moisture just like any fern. In our webshop we have this fern for sale. |
