Special form of Echinocactus grusonii.
The echinocactus grusonii is one of the most common landscape cactus in the American Southwest.
The young Echinocactus look quite different from the mature specimens.
From end of March till end of April the grusonii has 1.5 to 2 inches (4-5 cm) yellow flowers, which are quite small in relation to the size of the barrel. Only the mature specimens produce flowers and only when they receive enough sun. In the wild these plants can become 80 cm in diameter and 1,3 meter high.
