Tropical Centre

The crocodiles haved moved in!

One of our new terrariums is finally ready and our caymans (Caiman crocodilus yacare)moved to their new establishment in the jungle of Tropical Centre.
Above some action photos.
They are breeding pairs and have their origin in South America. The males are very active in calling the female by making their specific low sound.

Ofcourse the necessary permits are included with these animals, just like our Cites protected plants!

Feeding time!!! As you can see Roland is not afraid of them, but still you have to watch out, as caymans can not be made tame.
Photo's: Sandra Smeets andLouis Drent

As you can see the caymans have it all: a terrarium of 55 m2 with floorheating, poolheating, waterfall, heating lamps, sun lamp and mist apparature. Al this in a natural jungle with amazone lianas, treeferns like Dicksonia antarctica, Cyathea smitthi en Cibotium barometz, you almost want to be there yourself!

Much reading pleasure, Roland Smeets

Musella lasiocarpa

Musella lasiocarpa, produces the Golden lotus flower which sometimes stays on the plant for a year. The bigger plants are almost ready to flower, some with flower were sold immediately!

Football-frog

Probably only interesting for the dutch people, who are crasy for football: our frog with orange footbal! Made by poor Mexicans, who we support in this way.
€ 12,-

Stock: At the moment our stock is being filled up. Because of our huge wholesale, many species were sold out.
So if you are looking for treeferns, you don't have to visit us at the moment. They are all sold out, and because of the long application time for permits and long travel time of containers, we expect to have them again in July. Expected treeferns: Dicksonia antarctica, Dicksonia sellowiana, Cyathea smitthi, Cyathea dealbata, Cyathea medullaris, Cyathea delgadii. Also thousands of yucca rostratas are still expected, as well as exclusive agaves and yucca species.

Forum: Because of our continuous work load we will not publish our newly made forum. Roland's yucca and treefern knowledge will probably be published in various books in the future.
