Pomegranate Punica granatum “pink satin”

The pomegranate that we offer here is of a very strong separate variety, the fruits are 2 to 3 times larger than normal! The last photo is of the mother plant.
Many studies report the functional properties of pomegranate extracts and juice: antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, neuroprotective, cardiovascular and anti-diabetic effects.
Punica granatum or pomegranate is found throughout the Mediterranean, as well as in the Himalayas and Southeast Asia.
There, the multi-stemmed shrub grows to a height of more than 5 meters, with us it does not grow much higher than 250/300 cm without pruning.
The older the pomegranate tree gets, the more whimsical and beautiful the trunk becomes.
The pomegranate is a sweet / sour tasting fruit and full of vitamins. When a ripe fruit falls to the ground, the seeds jump in all directions, hence the name pomegranate.
In our climate it does need a very good summer to ripen, but it is certainly not excluded.
Also, the flowering of the Punica granatum should not be skipped. Beautiful bright red flowers adorn the shrub and the abundant flowering lasts all summer. After flowering, red round fruits are replaced.
Apply regular light fertilization in spring to autumn.
During the wintering in a pot, do not water too much (1x per month) and no fertilizer.
In the garden in a sheltered spot on the south and protect the plant in moderate frost.
