Quick Overview

Yucca madrensis, total 50-60 cm

Yucca madrensis:

Yucca madrensis is native to a mountainous region in the Sierra Madre Occidental in the Mexican states of Sonora and Chihuahua where it grows on steep, rocky slopes in pine-oak forests.
Yucca madrensis grows solitarily and forms a bare trunk of 0.5 to 0.8 m height. The variable, green, blue-green leaves are 50 to 80 cm long and 2 to 3 cm wide.
The branching, brief inflorescence beginning in the leaves becomes 0.5 to 1 m.
Yucca madrensis has indehiscent fruits and leaves. This suggests relationships with Y. rigida and Y. schotti. It differs from both those species by several characters such as narrowness of the leaves, inflorescence, and short stature.
Easy to grow, has withstand -18°C.
